Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Maxcess, a leader in the design and engineering of slitting, winding, tension and guiding products for the web handling industry, was recognized for Tidland’s Blade Sharpening System with the 2012 Technology of the Year award from the Association of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL). The award follows another recent win in 2009 for Technology of the Year from the association for the e-Knifeholder, Tidland’s all electronic Knifeholder that automatically and precisely sets slitting blade overlap and side pressure ensuring high quality slitting and predictability.
According to AIMCAL, the judges were impressed by the Blade Sharpening System, “because it turns an arduous chore into an easily accomplished task.” “As a result, I think it will have a positive impact on quality since it will encourage everyone to sharpen their blades more often,” predicted one judge. “It meets a need and serves a lot of people,” noted another member of the panel. “It’s a better, safer way to sharpen blades,” summed up a third judge.”
“This new technology is simply a way to better serve our customers, so we designed it to be extremely safe and easy to use,” said Peter Wood, Global Product Manager for Tidland Slitting. “With a push of a button, we’re enabling maintenance or production departments to quickly and easily sharpen blades in-house, eliminating the need to send blades out for regrind or sharpening.”
